The Triune God: Our Faith in the Trinity
We believe in one eternal God, revealed in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons:
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—distinct in personhood, yet united in essence, will, and glory.
We do not worship three Gods, but One God in Three Persons—Father, Son, and Spirit—co-eternal in being, equal in glory, undivided in nature, worthy of all worship.
This is the mystery and foundation of our faith:
“Hear, O Israel: YHWH our God, YHWH is one.” – Deuteronomy 6:4
And yet He has revealed Himself in three Persons, each fully God.
God the Father — Creator, Source, and Sovereign
He is the origin of all things, the one who sent the Son and the one to whom all glory returns.
“Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist.”
— 1 Corinthians 8:6
God the Son — Jesus the Messiah, the Word Made Flesh
He is eternally begotten, not made, the visible image of the invisible God. Through Him, the world was created and redemption secured.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
— John 1:1,14
“For in Him all the fullness of deity dwells bodily.”
— Colossians 2:9
God the Holy Spirit — The Life-Giver and Indweller
He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and empowers, convicts, and sanctifies the Church.
“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit?... You have not lied to man but to God.’”
— Acts 5:3–4
“The Spirit of truth... He will guide you into all truth.”
— John 16:13
One God in Three Persons — Unity in Trinity
While the word “Trinity” does not appear in Scripture, the truth of it is revealed from Genesis to Revelation.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
— Matthew 28:19
Note: Jesus said “in the name” (singular), not “in the names” (plural), affirming the unity of the three Persons.
